Duke Udi backs Eagles’ boycott, says ‘Nigeria can’t owe senators’

A former international, Duke Udi, has thrown his weight behind the Super Eagles players for staging a boycott at their camp base in Rabat Morocco, venue of the CAF Playoffs for the 2026 FIFA World Cup billed to take place in Canada, Mexico and the United States of America.

Udi stressed that the Eagles were only asking for what they had worked for and they should be heard.

He added that it was unfair that the federation could be owing the players for about six years and two years consecutively.

“It is a shame we are in this situation. There is no justification for the NFF to be owing the players their allowances and bonuses. I cannot fault the timing, they should be paid.

“People should be held responsible for their actions and inactions. They are asking for their rights and this action will also teach the federation some lessons to be alive to their duties.

“Let us ask ourselves if Nigerian Government can owe the Senators and Representatives at the National Assembly, it is not possible.” Udi noted.

The Nigeria/Gabon match is slated for Rabat, Morocco on Thursday November 13. It is a semifinal clash of the World Cup playoff in which the winner is expected to meet the winner of the Cameroon/Congo DR match to decide the African representative that will again compete in the intercontinental playoff involving six teams with only two to pick the World Cup final ticket.
