Dickson tasks Due Process Bureau on dedication, diligence, integrity

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has inaugurated a five-member Due Process Bureau, with a call on them to exhibit a high level of dedication, diligence and integrity in their assignment.
Dickson, who inaugurated the Due Process Bureau Board on Tuesday at the Government House, Yenagoa, said that the job of due process is a sensitive one that will keep them very busy.
He stated that, every authorised government procurement will pass through the bureau, stressing that, quantities and surveys must be reasonable, as he expects the state to have value for money, since the government expects every price to be fair, reasonable and competitive.
 “Your job is sensitive and I expect members to exhibit a high level of diligence, dedication and integrity.  The state expects to have value for money and every price to be fair, reasonable and competitive”, the governor stressed.
Responding on behalf of the other Directors of the Bureau, the Director-General, Amaebi Ikipitibor, expressed gratitude to the governor for finding them worthy to serve and to be part of the restoration government.
 Other directors of the bureau are Surveyor Benedict Suoyou – Director, Price Intelligence; Engineer Wilson Aggrey – Director, Contract and Monitoring; Barrister Benjamin Ogbara – Director, Ethics and Compliance and Architect and Archtect Stella Raine.
 In another development, Governor Seriake Dickson has said that, his administration made the declaration of assets a state policy from inception in 2012, as the restoration government has remained fully compliant with the policies and objectives of the code of conduct Bureau.
Dickson made this position known, while receiving a certificate of verification and clearance from Chief Stephen Bekefula, a Federal Commissioner in the Code of Conduct Bureau, in Government House, Yenagoa.
While calling on all appointees to be ready to face the operatives of the bureau to declare their assets, Governor Dickson added that, the people should be properly sensitised on the importance of declaring their assets, particularly the government appointees and civil servants.
“Since 2012, the government has made it a policy that before you are given an appointment, you must first declare your assets.  It is nothing unusual as I have done it severally before I became governor.
 “While I call on all appointees to be ready to for it, next year, probity will be the watchword, as every appointee will declare their assets before and after office”, he stated.
Chief Stephen Bekefula, a Federal Commissioner in the Code of Conduct Bureau, Abuja, explained that the Bureau is in the state to verify properties of Governor Seriake Dickson and all political office holders, including the deputy governor, secretary to the state government and the local government chairmen.
The Federal Commissioner explained that, the code of assets declaration law states that, it is important for all political appointees to declare their assets, three months after the assumption of office.
