The Bayelsa State Government has postponed the meeting convened by leaders of ex-militants in the Niger Delta.
The meeting was scheduled to hold on Saturday in Yenagoa.
A statement by Mr Daniel Iworiso-Markson, Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Seriake Dickson, said the governor had offered to meet with the former militant leaders at a later date.
“Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson has called for the postponement of the proposed meeting of the leaders of ex-agitators in the Niger Delta, earlier scheduled for July 25 in Yenagoa.
“The governor will meet with them soon to discuss issues as it affects the ex-militants and other issues of interest in the region and the nation in general.
“He calls for the understanding and cooperation of all concerned,” Iworiso-Markson said.
Security agents were on standby in Yenagoa to avert any breach of peace in the South-South state.
