Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has described the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme as a veritable tool for promoting national integration, patriotism and service.
Dickson, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mr. Francis Ottah Agbo, stated this at the commissioning of refuse bins constructed and donated by the 2016/2017 NYSC members in the state.
Represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Rt. Hon. Talford Ongolo, Dickson commended the donors, who are Batch B Corps members serving in the state under the aegis of ECOVANGUARD Community Development Service for their efforts in complementing government’s efforts at promoting cleanliness and public health.

According to him, his administration will continue to place premium on healthcare and environmental sanitation.

Dickson, who observed that the NYSC is one of the most successful programmes initiated by the Federal Government, noted that, the scheme is realizing its cardinal objectives of inculcating in the youths, a sense of service and patriotism.

He charged members of the Ecovangaurd CDS group and all corps members not to rest on their oars, in developing a positive attitude to national service.

In his remarks, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on NYSC Matters, Mr.Suoyo Appah lauded the Ecovangaurd CDS Group for its thoughtfulness at initiating the project and called on other NYSC groups to emulate their gesture.

Also speaking, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Bolade Loto urged corps members to get actively involved in community development projects at improving the living conditions at their places of primary assignment.

Handing over the refuse bins to the government, President of the NYSC Ecovangaurd CDS Group, Batch B, 2016/2017, Mr. Martins Lawrence expressed optimism that the initiative would assist in preserving the environment.
