Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for not interfering in the conduct of the last election in the state.

He said the president, by his attitude, led by example and an inspiration in the collective strive for a united and peaceful political environment in the nation.

Dickson, who made the commendation when he met with Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Wednesday, said beside the fact that Buhari did not interfere in the political process during the election, he also kept his distance during the aftermath which allowed the judiciary to do its work as an independent institution.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, Dickson also called on leaders, irrespective of their political affiliation to unite and work for peace and security of the nation.

This, he said, will help in the process of rebuilding the national economy.

On the situation in the Niger Delta, Dickson said that military action is not the solution but a steady and sustained engagement, dialogue as well as the development of the region.
