The governorship candidates of APC in Anambra, Dr Chris Ngige, and APGA, Chief Willie Obiano, have promised to better the lives of the people if voted into power on Nov. 16.
They made the promises at a televised debate organised by the Nigeria Elections Debate Group (NEDG) on Thursday.
Others who made similar promises included Dr Ifeatu Ekelem of Advanced Congress for Democrats (ACD), Mr Jerry Okeke of Action Alliance (AA) and Mr Anthony Anene of Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN).
Mr Aaron Igweze, a journalist contesting on the platform of Alliance for Democracy (AD), also participated in the debate.
In his remarks, Ngige asked the people of the state to trust him with power following his antecedents in his 34 months in office as a former governor.
The senator said that when he was in power, things were better in the state, explaining that there were no cases of armed robbery and kidnapping.
“I want to come back to complete those things I left behind that are still abandoned.
“I want to come back to give back to the labour those things that had eluded them; I want to come back to make the people happy again,’’ Ngige said.
On his part, Obiano promised to continue with the giant strides Gov. Peter Obi recorded within eight years in the area of human and physical infrastructure.
He said he would improve the oil and gas sector as well as agriculture to boost the internally generated revenue of the state.
Ekelem told the audience that he would make education his priority.
For Okeke, within eight months of his administration, 20,000 youths would be employed while Igweze said his administration would reduce income and industrial taxes in the state.
In a remark, the coordinator of the NEDG, Mr Aremo Alimi, commended the candidates for their maturity.
