Chairman of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has pledged to provide three more mobile clinic to the Clara Oshiomhole Foundation.

Dangote made the pledge when he presented the first van to the foundation in Benin.

He explained that the donation was to commemorate the third year of the death of Clara, wife of Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State.

The foundation aims at reducing maternal and child mortality in Edo.

Dangote said those in need of quality medical services in the rural areas were many and that the mobile clinic was a right step in the right direction.

He said a lot still needed to be done in the health care delivery sector in meeting the MDGs target of reducing maternal and child mortality by 2020.

Inaugurating the van, Dangote commended the initiative of the children of the late Edo First Lady on the project.

He said that no matter the number of hospitals, mobile clinics could also augment and rescue.

Oshiomhole thanked Dangote for being the biggest donor to the foundation.

The governor said no sector of the economy could develop without good health care services.

Dr Winifred Owumi, first daughter of Oshiomhole and founding member of the foundation, said it was committed to continuing with the ideas and focus of the late Clara.

She said the foundation would go the extra mile in providing good health care to pregnant and nursing mothers as well as to children.

Clara died on December 7, 2010 after a battle with cancer.
