The command also said it generated over N246 billion between January and October.

The Command’s Comptroller, Baba Imam, made this known while addressing newsmen and making declaration of the seizures at the command’s corporate office, Onne, Rivers.

He, however, attributed achievements to renewed mindset engendered through training and retraining of officers as well as adequate provision of logistics and incentives to the service.

He stated that 9 containers with duty paid value of over N1.16 billion was also confiscated by officers of the area command.

“The following goods were seized in 9 containers for contravening import prohibition laws: 724 bales of used clothing, 1,805 pieces of used tyres, 4 vehicles used in concealing 76.9kg special cannabis (marijuana), 2,070 cartons of Tomato paste, among others.”

He also said that the command had so far generated N246 billion from January to October.

He said this represented a significant increment of more than N44 billion generated for the 2022 fiscal year.

The Comptroller also noted that the command realized more than N38 billion in October alone, thereby exceeding its monthly revenue target of N28 billion.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ashu Ota, in charge of operations of the Eastern ports, on behalf of the Police, took the delivery of the two suspects as well as the exhibits (Pistol).

He also called for public participation to enhance effective policing and crime reduction.

“I’m pleased to the high level about the synergy and commitment between the Nigeria Customs Service and the Police.
