ibikunle_amosunGov. Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun says many of his critics are ignorant about his administration’s achievements.

Amosun spoke in Ilara, Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of the state while inspecting the extent of work done on the 107 kilometre Ilara-Ijoun-Oja Odan-Ilase road project.

“Those criticising us for doing these roads are either ignorant of what we are doing or they are confused by the level of service delivery we are giving to the people.

“But we won’t be deterred and we will remain focused on doing what the good people of Ogun state voted us to do,’’ he said.

Amosun, who expressed delight at the level of work done so far during the first phase, said the road project was the longest embarked upon by his administration.

“I laugh when I hear some people say all the road projects are being concentrated in Ogun Central. I laugh because I see they are ignorant of what is going on.

“This road is 107 kilometres and it is the longest of all the roads we are presently constructing; it cuts across the four local governments in Ogun West.

“It links Yewa North, Yewa South, Ipokia and of course Imeko-Afon, It is only Ado-Odo/Ota that it didn’t touch and we are treating that local government specially.

“Why we are doing it is to ensure that this area (Ogun West), being the food basket of the state, is opened up to achieve its full potential.

“When this road is completed, our farmers won’t have problems bringing out their farm produce again,’’ he said.

The governor, who had earlier inspected the 7.4 km Oke-Oyinbo/Idagba road, said that the six-lane Lafenwa-Ayetoro project was underway.

Mr Hakan Dal, the Project Manager of PW Nigeria Limited, commended the governor for providing necessary support to ensure the timely completion of the projects.

He also praised the people of the town for being cooperative and supportive of the construction effort.

Dal expressed optimism that the project, which commenced in November 2012, would be completed by May 2015.
