Enugu State ministry of health has confirmed another new contact positive.
A statement from the Commissioner for Health,
Obi Emmanuel Ikechukwu, disclosed that “This case happens to be another contact of the third case reported in Enugu who had positive travel history from outside Enugu. ”
The commissioner said that the patient has also been admitted for Isolation and Treatment
The total number of cases reported in Enugu is now ten (10) , two discharged with eight (8) active.
Ikechukwu advised residents to observe precautionary measures,
stay home and only go out when absolutely necessary .
“If you must go out, wear a mask , practice physical/social distancing, exercise proper respiratory hygiene , wash your hands as often as possible with soap and running water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer when there is no facility to wash your hands, sanitize surfaces all around you as often as possible with a 1in6 mixture of bleach and water ”

If they think they are ill with COVID 19 symptoms or know someone with COVID 19 symptoms, .
“If I do these, I protect you, if you do these you protect me! Stay safe, ” he advised.
Meanwhile, in continuation of its efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the state, Enugu State Government has launched and distributed over one million units of fabric face masks to the residents of the state across the 17 local government areas.
At the presentation held at the Michael Okpara square, Enugu, the Deputy Governor , Hon. Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, who represented Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, said that the gesture was “a demonstration of the unique leadership of Ugwuanyi administration’s proactive response since the outbreak of the pandemic as well as his deep empathy and concern for all, especially the vulnerable”.
She said that the event was a means of creating awareness on the compulsory use of face masks by residents of the state as well as all other precautionary measures aimed at containing the spread of the viral disease.
Ezeilo advised that the cloth face masks must be washed often and ironed. “Those caring for the ill, those already experiencing respiratory symptoms, like coughing and sneezing, the elderly and those with chronic and underlying medical conditions, must wear medical face masks and not cloth face masks”, she said.
The deputy governor stated that Ugwuanyi’s administration has remained in the frontline of tackling the COVID-19 and combating its inherent socio-economic challenges as well as other issues through the provision of palliatives to cushion its adverse effect on the vulnerable and implementation of economic and health related measures.
“Let me reiterate that this face mask that we are being strongly persuaded to wear is a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) designed to protect us and our dear ones and reduce our exposure to contagious and infectious health hazards, such as COVID-19 and its harmful effects that could include death.
“So I tell you in plain language and with all the emphasis at my disposal, wear your face mask always and correctly”, she hinted.
The deputy governor said that the face masks were produced by the state government using fabrics supplied by indigenous traders and sewed by trained tailors respectively as a means of socio-economic empowerment. t is expected that over 30,000 youths will be empowered through the production of the face masks.
Personalities at the event were the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Edward Ubosi, the Chairman, Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, Igwe Lawrence Agubuzu, members of the Enugu State House of Assembly, the State Chairman of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Solomon Onah, Commissioners and union leaders, among others.
