COVID-19: Capital Market Support Committee donates 150 infrared thermometers to Enugu Govt

The Capital Market Support Committee on COVID-19 (CMSCC) has donated 150 units of infrared thermometer to Enugu State Government for distribution to schools to help in curbing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in
Schools.

Chairman of the committee, Chief Patrick Ezeagu, who presented the items to the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo on Friday in Government House, Enugu, commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his efforts in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Representing the National Chairman of the committee, Mr Ariyu Olushekan, Ezeagu said that the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) had “observed the giant stride by the Enugu State government in the fight against COVID-19 and commend the ongoing government’s efforts toward flattening the curve,” he said.

He added that the fight against the pandemic should be a collective one, hence , every Nigerian should lend support to government’s efforts to wipe it out.

According to him, SEC set up Capital Market Support Committee on COVID-19.
CMSCC with the primary mandate to mobilise funds from the capital
market communities in Nigeria to support the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria.

”In furtherance of the mandate, the committee hereby extends its support through the donation of 150 units of infrared thermometer for use in schools in the state as schools resume.

”As schools are about to resume for academic activities, the infrared will help to checkmate the spread of the pandemic among the students.

”Together, we shall overcome pandemic,. At the federal government, we donated ambulances to Lagos and Rivers States.” Ezeagu said.

Responding, Mrs. Ezeilo thanked the committee for its gesture and kind words. “I’m sure that government’s efforts in the fight against the pandemic prompted this donation at this point of school reopening.

”On behalf of the people of the state and the governor, I say thank you for this wonderful and timely gesture,” Ezeilo said.

Those who witnessed the event were the Enugu Branch manager of the Stock Exchange, Mr Nobert Igwe, the Deputy Speaker, Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Uche Ugwu, Leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Ikechukwu Ezeugwu, the Commissioner for Inter ministerial, Hon. (Mrs) Marbel Agbo, the Commissioner for Gender Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Peace Nnaji among others.
