An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, on Wednesday, remanded a 46-year-old man, Mutiu Balogun, in a correctional facility over alleged killing of a 70-year-old man.

Balogun, whose address was not provided, was charged with murder.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair, did not take the plea of the defendant for want of jurisdiction.

Sanusi-Zubair directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice and, thereafter, adjourned the case till June 25 for mention.

The Prosecutor, Insp Oladejo Balogun, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 16 at about 1.30 p.m. at Mokola area of Ibadan.

Balogun said that the defendant unlawfully caused the death of the man, simply identified as Yekini, by hitting him on the chest with his fist.
According to him, the offence contravened Section 319 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
