Court adjourns suit of aggrieved PDP staff till July 6

The National Industrial Court (NIC) on Thursday commenced the hearing of the suit of an aggrieved PDP worker, Gbenga Oyebamiji, a clerical assistant, against party’s national secretariat.
Oyebamiji had dragged his employer to court, alleging non-payment of salaries and attempts to disengage his services from the party secretariat.
He said that he was asked to return his original letter of employment or have his salary stopped.
The secretariat claimed his original letter of employment was issued erroneously as he was a contract staff of the former PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Ahmadu Ali.
The party secretariat, he claimed, stopped payment of his salaries in 2008 on his refusal to return the employment letter.
His counsel, Mr Victor Emerson, said that his client’s appointment was still valid and existent.
He, therefore, prayed the court to prevail on the party’s secretariat to pay his client’s salaries and allowances from 2008 till date.
The judge, Justice Peter Lifu, adjourned the case till July 6, for adoption of addresses.
