The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) has commended the management of Parliament College of Health Science and Technology, Yauri, for providing adequate manpower and equipment for the training of medical laboratory technicians.
A team of Medical Laboratory Scientists from MLSCN gave the commendation while addressing the board and management of the college in Yauri, Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi on Wednesday.
Addressing the board, the team leader and Board Registrar, MLSCN, Dr Tosan Erhabour, said the efforts of the college in attaining the standard was worth commendation.
He observed that the efforts would not only facilitate smooth academic activities but guarantee graduation of professional medical personnel.
Erhabour advised students to take advantage of the situation by studying hard to actualize their dreams in the field.
Responding, the chairman of the College Governing Board, Alhaji Abdullahi Yelwa, appreciated the MLSCN Board for its efforts to sanitize medical laboratory science education in the country by insisting that only schools that met standards were accredited.
Yelwa promised to maintain the high standards of learning, training and research the college had attained since its establishment and called on wealthy individuals in the state to support private higher institutions in Kebbi.
The college was granted permission by MLSCN board to commence training of medical laboratory technicians on March 17, 2020, following an accreditation visit.
In the national examination of the board in 2022, the college scored 100 per cent pass.
The College has been accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN), West African Examinations Board (WAHEB) and the MLSCN.
Similarly, the college is registered by the State Ministry of Health and Ministry of Higher Education.
