Council inducts 36 medical laboratory science graduates of Edo varsity

The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSC) on Thursday inducted 36 graduates of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science of Edo University, Uzairue.

Vice-Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor, stated this at the 3rd Induction/Oath taking ceremony of 2022/2023 newly qualified graduate medical students.

Aluyor said that the management was thrilled at the way the students have consistently shown exceptional performance in professional examinations earning the department a commendation by the council.

” The Medical Laboratory Science department has been actively engaged in ground breaking research and publications, our faculty members and students have contributed to the body of knowledge in the field, earning our university recognition.

“Our medical laboratory science department has been a shining example of dedication, excellence and commitment.

“We are on a path of continuous growth and innovation, striving to set new standards in healthcare education,” he said.

The VC thanked the state government for the provision of world-class facilities in the university, adding that the multi million naira molecular laboratory donated by the Chancellor was also worthy of mention.

Aluyor also congratulated the graduates and wished them a successful career ahead.

” As we move forward, let us continue to nurture our passion for healthcare and research, working together to shape the future of our medical laboratory science profession.

“With the talent and determination that we have witnessed today, I am confident that the future of healthcare is in capable hands,” he said.

Dr Tosan Erhabor, Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), said the new graduates were now certified medical laboratory scientists and were qualified to work in any health facilities in the country.

“I urge you all to adhere to the rules of professional conduct and practice within the limit of the law guiding the council,” he said.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Lecturer in Charge, Department of Laboratory Science, Iyare Innocent, said the inductees were the third set produced by the university, having spent five years in the institution.

Innocent advised the graduates to remain good ambassadors of the profession and the Edo university.

“Our dear inductees, I salute your courage for enduring through these past five years, it is worthy to be celebrated.

“Let me assure you of a brighter future out there and my advice is for you to be worthy ambassadors of this great world class institution,” he said.
