Mr Wale Anomo, Chairman, Ikosi-Ejirin Local Council Development Area, Lagos State, has promised to improve security surveillance within the locality as well as protection of lives and properties.

Anomo, who made the promise in an interview on Friday in Ikosi-Ejirin, said that security of lives and properties should be a collective responsibility.

“It is not only the government that should be responsible for securing lives and properties. It concerns every one of us.

“It is an-all citizen’s responsibility. We should all be our brother’s keepers by saying something when we see it,” he said.

The council boss condemned the recent kidnapping of a state government teacher in Epe Division, adding that such an act should be vilified and discouraged in the society.

He added that security challenges were global, and every country should tackle their security challenges  optimally.

Anomo further said that all hands were on deck in his council area in tackling security challenges.

“The council has a smooth working relationship with the government security agencies to ensure that all lives and properties are protected,” he said.

He added that the council had its local security vigilantes that complement efforts of the government security agencies at the grassroots.

He called on youths in the locality to shun social vices and be responsible  citizens, while also tasking security agencies to double their efforts in the fight against kidnapping, ritual killings and other criminalities in the society.
