The House of Representatives, on Thursday, constituted a new Ad-Hoc Committee under the leadership of the Deputy Speaker, Sulaiman Lasun, to embark on a fresh Constitution amendment exercise.
Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara, announced the membership of the committee at the close of plenary.
He said members of the committee include all principal officers of the House with other members of the House like Reps. Sunday Karimi, Abubakar Chika, Jonathan Gaza, Aishatu Jibril Dukku, among others.
The last seventh Assembly undertook the constitution amendment for several months without results.
The last Assembly submitted the Fourth Amendment Alteration Bill to the immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan, who refused assent while citing some reasons.
A couple of months ago, Dogara reiterated that the eighth Assembly will re-submit the Alteration Bill to President Muhammadu Buhari, without commencing the exercise afresh.
It was not clear whether the exercise will commence fresh or the joint Senate and House committee or will accept the Bill by the last Assembly and re-submit to the President.
