Ebonyi State Commissioner for Internal Security, Stanley Okoro, has condemned the invasion of the residence of Governor David Umahi, in Abuja.
Describing the incident as unacceptable, barbaric and undemocratic, Okoro urged appropriate authorities and key stakeholders to bring the prepratrators to book.
While calling on the people of Ebonyi State to remain calm, steadfast and law-abiding, the Commissioner charged the political class to be wary of acts that are capable of causing disharmony.
Speaking with stakeholders of Edda community, Okoro applauded the level of maturity and patriotism demonstrated by the Governor, despite provocation by the prepratrators of the dreadful act, stressing that no amount of blackmail, intimidation and harassment, will derail the Governor Umahi-led administration from achieving it’s robust agenda for Ebonyi State.
He said: “I join other Nigerians, especially Ebonyians, in condemning the invasion of the Abuja residence of Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State.
“The aim of the prepratrators was to implicate the governor for selfish ambitions. In a democratic dispensation, the rule of law must be upheld and sustained.
“The people behind this ugly act must face the wrath of the law.
“Appropriate authorities must live up to expectations by conducting a detailed investigation in a bid to forestall recurrence”.
Okoro, who expressed appreciation to Ebonyians for the show of love and support, stressed that Umahi should be encouraged to continue his goodwork in the state.
