Commander, Corps of Engineers, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Philip Eromosele has warned soldiers of 15 Field Engineers Regiment, Topo Barracks, Badagry, against smuggling and the setting up of illegal checkpoints.
Eromosele gave the warning when he paid a visit to the regiment on Friday at Badagry, Lagos State, to inspect the level of projects carried out at Topo Barracks.
The commander urged the officers to discharge their duties professionally and distance themselves from acts inimical to military professionalism.
“I urge you not to involve yourselves in the setting up of any illegal road blocks and smuggling that would tarnish your profession,’’ he said.
He charged the troops to ensure that they remained focused in the discharge of their duties.
Eromosele warned that any act short of military ethics and capable of tarnishing the reputation of the army would be met with stringent measures.
The general urged the officers and men to take the advantage of trainings impacted on them to build and develop themselves.
According to him, the army recently provided lots of opportunities for troops to acquire knowledge.
Eromosele assured the officers and men of better motivation ahead in terms of provision of equipment and welfare for them and for their families.
Inspecting some on-going projects in the barracks, the commander commended the Commanding Officer, Lt.-Col. Ibrahim Liadi, for maintaining a healthy environment.
“I am happy to be here today to see the level of on-going projects, knowing full well that the welfare of any soldier must be properly taken care of for him to be effective.
“I am impressed with level of work at the commanding officer’s residence, road construction, medical reception station and others.
“I am satisfied with level of work in the barracks,’’ he stressed.
