Cleric urges Nigerians to be agents of positive change

Bishop Aloysius Agbo of the Anglican Dioceses of Nsukka has urged Nigerians to be agents of positive change and transformation in their homes and places of work.

Agbo said this in an interview with newsmen on Sunday, on the sideline of the 2023 Annual Harvest and Thanksgiving Service of the All Saints Anglican Church in Abuja.

The service was titled: “Ebenezer: Divine Help”, and was dedicated to giving thanks to God for His many blessing on the Christian faithful’s and the country as a whole.

The cleric urged Christians to be the light of the world as mandated by the Bible and to model the gospel in their daily lives.

“Let us become the change we want. Let us begin the transformation we desire from what we do as individuals, beginning from our work places, to our homes and in our relationship with others.

“We can influence others, it may be small, but we can cause change, so let us be examples of that change we seek for.

“The major problem we have in Nigeria is that many of us, especially Christians, are not living up to expectation.

“We need to remodel the gospel we preach; when we do that, we are light. The Bible told us we are light of the world, when we carry light, the darkness of this nation will disappear at least in our own environment,” he said.

The clergy also urged all Nigerians to work hard, believing and trusting God.

He explained that trusting God means taking action in line with what God wants.

The Vicar of the Church, Rev. Ernest Onuoha, said that there is a need for all Nigerians to give thanks to God.

He said that the theme of the harvest was chosen to reflect the goodness and faithfulness of God to man for which He must be recognized.

“The message to Nigerians at this critical time is for them to know that we do not have alternative – God is our only alternative and He is the only  escape route.

“We have to depend on him, we have to rely on Him and we also have to pray from time to time.

“Men’s help will always be limited but God’s own is not limited and He will never disappoint those who put their trust in Him.

“Nigerians should learn, especially at this time, as we prepare for Christmas and the end of the year, that the help of God is what we require to get out of our political quagmire.

“We have to pray for the nation to the glory of God,” he said
