The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Enugu has donated boreholes to Uzoenugwu-Ibusa Amokwe and Idedu -Etiti, Amokwe autonomous communities of Enugu State respectively , and also trained selected persons from the communities on sanitation and personal hygiene .
Commissioning the water project in Uzoenugwu -Ibusa ,Amokwe , the Deputy Governor of Enugu State , Hon. Lolo Cecilia Ezeilo, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Deputy Governor’s Office, Lolo Chioma Ugwu, said that the project was constructed in partnership with the Enugu State government.
She emphasised the need for personal hygiene, stating that twelve people from the community were trained on personal hygiene and sanitation.
The Deputy Governor urged them to practise the act of regular hand-washing to avoid outbreak of diseases . She also urged those who were trained to replicate same in their wards.
Ezeilo told the community to use the five hundred thousand niara donated to them by the State government to purchase a generating plant to power the borehole and carry out other maintenances. She urged them to protect the facility.
Speaking, the State President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Dr Chimaroke Udeichi said that the Charity team of the Church, LDA Charities had sunk 15 boreholes in different communities. He told the people that the borehole was attracted by the deputy governor , Lolo Ezeilo.
He said that 12 people from the community were trained on sanitation and hygiene and certificates were issued to them. “The sanitation committees should give back to the community what they received. They should sensitise the the people on sanitation and the need to stop open defecation. ”
Dr Udeichi disclosed that the Church gave a one year guarantee. “If there is a problem, call the Engineer that handled the project to fix it. ” He commended the state governor, Rt. Hon (Dr) Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his good governance in the state and his support. to the project.

J. C. Atuh , the president general, Sir Nath Onyia lauded the efforts of the Latter Day Church in Community development. He said that ten communities were slated for the second phase of the water project and Uzoenugwu -Ibuza Anikwe was among the benefiting communities.
At Idedu – Etiti Amokwe, the Deputy Governor also commissioned the borehole sunk for the community. She told them that the state government had supported the community with the sum of five hundred thousand niara for the purchase of a
generating plant for powering the borehole. She urged them to protect the facility. . The president general, John Udeh commended the state government and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for the water project.
He thanked the state government for the gift of five hundred thousand niara for the the purchase of a generating plant and maintenance of the borehole. Highlights of the occasion was the issuance of certificates to the members of the communities trained on sanitation and hygiene.
