Prof. Clement Kolawole, Vice-Chancellor of Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos, has urged Nigerians to embrace righteousness and godliness in spite of socio-economic challenges.

Kolawole made the admonition on Tuesday at the university’s Carol of Nine Lessons in Lagos.

The carol had the theme: “Unto Us, a Child is Born”.

Preaching from the book of Isaiah, the vice-chancellor admonished Christians to emulate Jesus Christ and his righteousness.

According to him, Christmas reflects righteousness, hope, redemption and unity.

“This is a time to reflect on the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, and the manifestation of God’s glory,” he said.

The event featured praise/worship, congregational hymns, Carol of Nine Lessons and sermon.

It was attended by the university’s students, members of staff, alumni and others.

“We must embrace the true meaning by showcasing God’s glory through our actions,” he said.

The vice-chancellor called on
students, who were misbehaving, to repent.

He said that the university was prepared for 2025, and prayed for God’s grace.

Earlier, Mr Samuel Adetunji, the Pro-Chancellor of the university, described Christmas as a season of joy, hope and favour.

Olatunji called on the students to conceive ideas that would transform their lives and impact positively on Nigeria.

He applauded parents for sacrifices and commitment to the education of their children.

He said that contributions of the university’s staff had led to its growth.
