On Tuesday, Afrobeat star, David Adeleke (Davido), literally closed down the city of Lagos.
The celebration was his wedding to his long-time partner, Chioma Rowland, in a lavish ceremony attended by politicians, monarchs, dignitaries and celebrities.
Present were former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Nurudeen Adeleke (Osun) and others.
In one of the video clips trending online, Sanwo-Olu was seen engaging in banter with Davido, Adeleke and others.
Davido was shouting: “Excellency, Excellency”.
Davido described the occasion as “the best day of my life” and expressed joy at marrying his lover.
The #Chivido2024 wedding generated significant buzz on social media, with fans and celebrities sharing photos and videos from the star-studded event.
Davido and Chioma’s relationship dates back several years, with the couple facing some challenges over the years, including the tragic loss of their son, Ifeanyi, in 2022. However, they welcomed twins in 2023 and have now officially tied the knot.
“I feel good. It’s the best day of my life. It’s a great day. We are here to receive our wife,” Davido said in another video clip.
