The Editor-in-Chief of the Peoples Daily of China, Shao Jiaming, has said that the newspaper produces three million copies daily.
He made the disclosure in Beijing when he received 13 visiting journalists from Nigeria and Ghana.
He said the newspaper was the largest Chinese paper with 29 subsidiary publications.

He added that the paper was the mouthpiece of the ruling Communist Party of China, in addition to being the peoples’ newspaper.

Jiaming said the newspaper established its website — people.com in 1997, and it was the first Chinese website.

He noted that currently the newspaper had 44 websites in its news group, 31 mobile phone applications and 20,000 digital newstands all over China.

According to him, the paper has 72 million users, 77 million download applications and has moved from newspaper publication to multi-media.

He said “anybody who needs to know China must read and talk to the paper.’’

He added that the newspaper group had 1,600 members of staff, 33 local bureaux and 39 bureaux worldwide.

According to him, the 70-year-old newspaper is the bridge between the government and the people.
