A graduate of Applied Chemistry from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Khadijah Abubakar says she makes an average of N100,000 monthly from her thriving fragrance and incense business.
The entrepreneur, who made the disclosure in a phone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday said her passion for scents and fragrance drove her into incense production.
Abubakar, a 25-year-old lady said she started the business in the year 2019 with N5,000 ,where she sold to friends and family in her hometown, Sokoto State.
“I produce  traditional home and body scents like Turaren Wuta,Khumra, Kulaccham, mopping fragrance, toilet spray and laundry fragrance among others.
” Most of my customers are women because they are the ones taking care of the home and family; we all know the importance of keeping our environment clean with a good smell, ”she said.
The young entrepreneur, who is the the founder of ‘Scent zone by Deejer’, said she had trained about 20 people who were mostly women on incense production and marketing.
She stated that debtors were her major challenge in the business as some people buy her products on credit and fail to pay on time which causes a set back in her business.
Abubakar said she hopes to own a shop at a strategic location where she would showcase all her products while boosting her online presence.
She advised unemployed youths and women to wake up from their slumber and start businesses with the little amount they could afford rather than waiting for elusive favors from family members and friends.
