Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles are getting set for their third Group C match of the ongoing Rwanda 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) against Guinea as they depart Kigali on Sunday to the venue of the match in Rubavu, one of the cities in Rwanda.
The Home Eagles and their coaches played their first two matches in the preliminary round at the Stade de Kigali, with their scheduled third match of the group taking place at the Rubavu Stadium on Tuesday.
Information from the Eagles’ camp in Kigali says the team will leave as early as possible on Sunday to Rubavu to begin preparation ahead of their match, which they must either draw or win on Tuesday to guarantee their passage to the quarter final stage.
The Eagles put themselves in a win or draw situation against Guinea after they were held to a 1-1 draw by the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in their second group match Friday afternoon at the Stade de Kigali, Kigali.
Abia Warriors’ Chisom Chitakara had put Eagles in the lead in the 51st minute of the pulsating encounter, only for Tunisia’s marksman, Ahmed Akaichi to level up in the 70th minute.
While the Eagles will be playing against Guinea in Rubavu, Tunisia and Niger will also have their third group match simultaneously at the Stade de Kigali, in Kigali.
Nigeria are currently leading the log with four points with Tunisia and Guinea having two points each, while Niger are having one point.
Nigeria’s Coach, Sunday Oliseh said that there is no cause for alarm going into the last group match against the Guineans.
The 46-year-old coach said the game against Guinea will offer better performance, adding that, it was okay sharing point with the Tunisians on Friday.
“We will continue to work hard. Of course, I know we are still in the pool and our last game will offer better performance,” Oliseh said on a Lagos-based sports radio on Saturday.
