glo_logoMajor sponsor of the Nigerian national football teams, Globacom Unlimited, has commended the performance of the home-based Super Eagles who defeated their Ivorian counterpart 4-1 in the CHAN 2014 first leg final round qualifiers at the weekend in Kaduna.

Nigeria edged closer to the CHAN finals slated for South Africa next January after humbling the fellow West Africans, Cote d’Ivoire . However, it will not be over until the second leg is played in Abidjan on July 20.

“We are impressed that the players plying their trade in the domestic league were able to demonstrate their superiority over the Ivorians which further confirmed that our strong commitment to the development of the Glo professional league is a step in the right direction,” Globacom said in a statement in Lagos yesterday.

“The fact that the home based Eagles also showed their proficiency in goal scoring to satisfy the yearnings of Nigerian football fans means a credible new beginning for football in the country at the highest level,” the statement added.

Globacom stated that the players have shown with the convincing win over Cote d’Ivoire that they could achieve success, no matter the challenges, if they get the right motivation.

The company also commended Nigerian fans that trooped out in large number to the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna to cheer the Eagles to victory.

Globacom is the official telecommunications partner of the Nigeria Football Federation and the major sponsor of the Nigerian national teams.
