A prophet of Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) in Ogun State, Yomi Adetula, was on Sunday morning shot and axed to death during service.
It was a gory sight as worshippers ran helter-skelter when gunmen invaded the Hebrew Parish of the church along Old Baggage Road, Odo Eran, Idiroko and went straight for Adetula.
The 54-year-old Adetula was shot several times and the assailants also axed him to death.
The assassins immediately fled the scene.
Ogun Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the
attack and murder.

She said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Idiroko was contacted and police officers immediately raced to the scene.
They met the lifeless body of Adetula lying face up “in a pool of blood which stained his white celestial garment.
“His body was riddled with bullets and his head was not spared. To ensure the victim was dead, it was mangled with axe”.
According to investigation, the assassins were three and they were armed with double barrel guns and axes.
Meanwhile, the corpse has been moved to the General Hospital morgue, Ilaro.
She said the assassins escaped towards the border area “and efforts are on to arrest them”.
