Cattle rustlers kill two farmers in Katsina

The District Head of Batsari, Alhaji Tukur Muazu, said on Thursday that no fewer than two farmers were killed by cattle rustlers in Kandawa village, Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Muazu made this disclosure while receiving Alhaji Nuhu Abdul-kadir, the Chairman, State Standing Committee for the improvement of farmers/herdsmen relationship, who visited the area.
The district head said that the rustlers killed the farmers on Wednesday on their irrigation farms, alleging that they were informants to security agencies.
He said that the rustlers had been terrorising the area and allegedly carted away hundreds of cattle from their owners.
The district head commended Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State for securing the assistance of military personnel to curtail the activities of rustlers.
Responding, Alhaji Abdul-kadir called on the traditional rulers to mobilise their subjects to give the security agents necessary information about the rustlers.
Abdul-kadir said that without information the security agents would not be able to tackle the menace of cattle rustling in the area.
He said that the committee would continue to work for the peaceful coexistence of the farmers and the herdsmen.
