Cantona sues New York Cosmos for $1 million

Manchester United legend, Eric Cantona, has vowed to sue the management of New York Cosmos over unpaid $1million owed him after the club fired him last year.
The New York Cosmos have taken the risk of angering the mercurial Frenchman by failing to pay him the $1 million he believes he is owed after the club fired him last year.
Cantona is suing the Cosmos in Manhattan federal court for breach of contract. Back in 2011, when the rebooted Cosmos were seeking once again to be A Thing, it seemed like a good idea to hire one of the ’90s most iconic players as a figurehead, giving him the title of director of soccer.

It no longer seemed like such a swell plan after Cantona was arrested and cautioned by police for reportedly punching a photographer in the face last year. We wait to see if Cantona’s attorneys will argue that by having a rowdy drinking session in a trendy part of town with an attractive woman, he was simply doing his job by trying to recreate the spirit of the old Cosmos.
