christianity_symbolThe Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has congratulated the Muslim community on the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

The message is contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by the President of the Association, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor

The statement was signed by Mr Kenny Ashaka, the CAN president’s Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs.

“The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) feels happy with the Muslim ummah on this joyous occasion of the celebration of the Eid-el-Kabir.

“CAN wishes the President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Saad Abubakar III, and indeed, all Muslims a happy celebration.’’

Oritsejafor urged the Muslim ummah to use the Eid-el-Kabir celebrationto pray for peace, security, good governance and development of the country.

According to him, while celebrating Eid-el-Kabir, Nigerians should reflect on the pillars of love and tolerance for which Islam is known.

He urged Muslims to shun acts that contradicted the teaching of Islam.

“The opportunity of this celebration should be used to seek Islam through its own sources and true representatives,” he said.
