Mr Ibrahim Emokpaire, the Chairman, Progressives’ Solidarity for Asiwaju (PSA) has described calls for an Interim National Government as undemocratic and a call to anarchy.

He said this in a statement issued by Mr Ayodele Ariyo, the Director Press and Publicity, PSA on Thursday in Abuja.

The statement was his reaction to comments by Baba Datti-Ahmed, Labour Party Vice-Presidential candidate on a recent a Television interview.

Datti-Ahmed had said that handing over to the President-elect, Sen. Bola Tinubu would be unconstitutional because, according to him, he did not win the Feb 25 presidential election.

Emokpaire, a former APC National Chairmanship aspirant said that the most awful civilian government was better than the most effective military government.

He added that the presidential and governorship elections had been lost and won, saying it was now time to come together to build the country that was the desire of all.

He said though the elections may have some flaws, it was free, fair and credible as attested to by many independent institutions and election observers.

He added that the best option left to losers and winners was to seek redress in court and reconciliation respectively.

While acknowledging that Interim National Government was unconstitutional, Emokpaire, said that the losers of the just concluded elections had the option to re-strategize.

He said they could vote out the president-elect in 2027 if failed to deliver on his campaign promise of a renewed hope, instead of clamoring for an interim government.
“The process and outcome of February 25, 2023 and March 18, 2023 elections showed that the Nigerians love Tinubu and the ruling APC and what it has achieved over the years.

“An interim government is treasonable, wicked, and undemocratic and those calling for it, are anti-democracy agents. They are evil and power mongers who want to steal the people’s mandate.

‘A nation will suffer lasting damage if the consequences of such a breach are not dealt with immediately.

“Losers in the elections should join hands with Tinubu, a progressive who had worked tirelessly for the progress of Lagos State while he was its governor for two-terms and the country at large for more than three decades,” he said.

He expressed optimism that Tinubu would address challenges of infrastructure deficit, electricity supply and attract foreign direct investments to the country.

He said Tinubu would also address unemployment, bad roads and insecurity among others in the country when he assumed office on May 29.

He said the reported arrest of Eze Ndigbo over his alleged invitation of IPOB to Lagos State to protect Igbo traders would served as a deterrent to others.

This, he said, was especially for those planning to truncate the smooth transition of power to a democratically elected government come May 29.

He called on law abiding citizens to accept the outcome of Feb. 25 presidential election and the March 18 governorship election and the electoral process, instead of embarking on actions that would set Nigeria back
