El-Kanemi Warriors, on Sunday, shocked many in their CAF Confederation Cup played at the Remo Stadium Ikenne, thrashing Guinea-Bissau’s União Desportiva Internacional 3-0 to make a statement in their first preliminary round.
Despite relegating to the lower division, the Nigeria National League at the end of last season, El-Kamemi secures their spot on the continent after defeating Ikorodu City in the final of the Federation Cup and with all looking down on them, the Northern side showed their mark, scoring three second half goals to score the handsome win.
With the first half even, El-Kamemi returned with more fight in the second half and took the lead in the 52nd minute through Nnamdi Mejuobi who doubled the lead just four minutes later from the spot.
With UDIB looking for a goal, El-Kamemi secured the three points with three goals when Dayo Wahab scored a rebound in the 88th minute as the game ended 3-0.
A statement win and a huge confidence boost for the Nigerian side as they take a healthy advantage into the return fixture in Guinea Bissau.
