Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has set a new continental record after becoming the African artiste with the highest number of entries on the Billboard U.S. Hot 100 chart.

The Grammy-winning singer confirmed the milestone via his social media platforms on Tuesday, describing it as a major achievement in his global music career.

According to Billboard records, Burna Boy previously shared the record with fellow Nigerian artiste Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, with both artistes holding eight Hot 100 entries each.

The latest update places Burna Boy ahead with nine Billboard Hot 100 entries, making him the highest-charting African artiste in the history of the U.S. singles chart.

His record-breaking entry came through his collaboration with Colombian superstar Shakira on the FIFA World Cup official song titled “Dai Dai.”

The track debuted at No. 75 on the Billboard Hot 100, boosting his total entries to nine.

The song also gained global attention following a live performance by both artistes at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Mexico.

Burna Boy has now become the first African artiste to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive years, underscoring his sustained global influence.

His charting songs include:

  • “Loved By You” (2021)
  • “Last Last” (2022)
  • “Sitting On Top of the World” and “Talibans II” (2023)
  • “Just Like Me” and “We Pray” (2024)
  • “WGFT” (2025)
  • “Only You” and “Dai Dai” (2026)

The “Last Last” crooner has also surpassed 40 million monthly listeners on Spotify, marking a new personal streaming peak.

He continues to receive international recognition, with multiple nominations ahead of the 2026 Grammy Awards.

Industry analysts say Burna Boy’s latest achievement further cements Afrobeats’ growing dominance in global music, alongside other Nigerian stars pushing African sound onto international charts.
