Buhari, Wamakko mourn Shagari’s widow

President Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with family of the late former President Shehu Shagari over the transition of his widow, Hajiya Hadiza Shagari, at 80.
This is contained in a statement by the President’s spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina in Abuja.
The president described the departed as a pillar of strength and support, holding forth for the family while her husband busied himself with service to the nation.
He extended condolences to government and the people of Sokoto State, urging the family to be consoled by the good deeds of Hajiya Hadiza.
President Buhari prayed Allah to forgive the sins of the departed and reward her with Paradise.
Senator Aliyu  Wamakko (APC-Sokoto) also condoled with the Shagari family.
The deceased, popularly known as Gwaggo, died on Thursday at the Gwagwalada Hospital in Abuja.
Aged 80, Hajiya Hadiza was said to have died as a result of the COVID- 19 pandemic.
During the condolence visit to the residence of Alhaji Shehu Shagari  in Sokoto, Wamakko described Hadiza’s death as a great loss not only to her family, but to all Nigerians.
A statement by his Media Aide, Hassan Sanyinnawal, said in Sokoto that Wamakko also prayed the Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased, as well as grant her Janatul Firdausi.
Responding on behalf of the family, one of her relatives, Alhaji Abubakar Sardaunan-Shagari, thanked Wamakko for the condolence visit.
