President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, sacked Kingsley Kuku as Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme for former Niger Delta militants.
The president immediately appointed Brigadier-General P.T. Boroh as his successor.
The amnesty programme was started by the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. His successor, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, continued the programme until he left office on May 29, 2015.
Buhari’s order was contained in a statement in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina.
It stated that Boroh, whose appointment takes immediate effect, “is to take over the responsibilities of the former Special Adviser to President Jonathan on Niger Delta who also doubled as Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme.
“The appointment of a new Coordinator for the Amnesty Programme is expected to lead to the speedy resolution of recent hitches in its implementation such as the non-payment of outstanding allowances to ex-militants,’’ the statement maintained.
