Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has visited the Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Abubakar III, in his palace.
It was in furtherance of his aspiration to become the National Chairman of the party.
George, who was received by the Sultan, received royal blessing during the visit.
He also threw a challenge at other contestants for the position to come out for an open debate about their vision, their agenda and their motive in contesting for the office.
George said he was well knowledgeable about the culture and practices of the party, insisting that whoever wants to lead the party should not be afraid of a public debate that will showcase their grasp of the norms and traditional values of the party.
While George told delegates from  Kebbi, Zamfara and Sokoto states about the need for micro zoning of the National Chairmanship position, he insisted that the fundamental resolve of the founding founders was to promote equity and balance in the distribution of party offices.
He praised the Sultan for his patriotism and his instinctive embrace of all Nigerians, regardless of faith or tribe.
George was praised by the North-West Coordinator of his campaign organisation, Alhaji Bakori, for his selfless service to the party and his consistency, despite the twists and turns of the fortunes of the PDP.
Bakori said George “is the most experienced and tested among all the contestants”.
