Bode George, Babatope, Kashamu, Ogunlewe, Filani, others: We won’t allow external forces destabilise South-West PDP

The Elders and the stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South-West met for three days in Lagos from Wednesday August 31st to Friday September 2nd to deliberate on the future of the party in Yorubaland and the present challenges confronting the party as it impacts upon the fate and the fortunes of our people.
From these exhaustive discussions and deliberations over three days with various leaders and stakeholders, and equally in the light of the debacle of the aborted August 17th National Convention in Port Harcourt, the Yoruba leaders resolved as follows:
1. The Yoruba people have always been at the frontline in the contribution to the growth and the advancement of the Nigerian Union.
2. The Yoruba people must not and cannot afford to be pushed to the sidelines in the leadership processes of the Nigerian state.
3. The Yoruba leaders in the Peoples Democratic Party hereby affirm that they will, henceforth, sort out all disputes and differences that may arise through amicable internal resolution mechanisms.
4.The Yoruba people will protect their common abiding unity and will not tolerate any external interference or intrusion in their affairs.
5. The leaders reject the attempt by some external forces to distort the will of the Yoruba people at the Port Harcourt National Convention through the manipulation of the approved list of delegates.
6.The leaders agree to continue to strengthen the party in the South West with a common vision and a common purpose
7.The leaders believe that a consensus platform of unity and traditional brotherhood will enhance the dignity, the purpose and the collective glory of the Yoruba people.
8.The Yoruba leaders will ensure discipline, encourage loyalty, defend the Omoluabi heritage of our forefathers.
Those who attended the leadership summit include Chief Olabode George, Chief Ebenezer Babatope, Senator Robert Koleosho, Dr Saka Balogun, Senator Ayo Adeseun, Erelu Olusola Obada, Alhaji Jelili Adesiyan, Hon Dave Salako, Senator Buruji Kashamu, Senator Segun Bamgbetan, Senator Jumoke Ogunwale, Dr Bayo Faforiji, Chief Joju Fadairo, Hon Muraina Ajibola ,Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha, Bashorun Sunday Ogunlade, Hon Biodun Adedoja, Alhaji Abbas Oloko, Hon Yemi Taiwo,Alhaji Lasun Salami, Hon Dare Adeleke, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, Prince Remi Akitoye, Dr Ogunkelu, Senator Olasunkanmi, Rt Hon Adejare Bello, Hon Soji Adagunodo, Dr Bayo Faforiji , Alhaji Taju Oladipupo, Chief Ishola Filani, Dr Eddy Olafeso among many others.
Senator Iyiola Omisore, Chief Shuaibu Oyedokun, Senator Teslim Folarin and Hon Hazeem Alarape, who sent apologies, were duly represented by their lieutenants.
