The past, they say, makes the future and today, this present, is that past that would make the political future of Nigeria in 2023.
The leadership of the 8th Assembly witnessed vigorous political dramas that may had in a way affected/effected the Executive Arm of government.
The clock ticks, faithfully the 8th Assembly is rolling into the bowels of history to awoken a new birth of the 9th Assembly, with all, focused on the leadership of the Senate.
It would be good to comment on the actions of the APC on their probable interest on distinguished Senator Ahmed Lawan mounting the seat.
Nigerians had looked forward to building a better bond, a Nigeria of classic unity represented in the arms of government and this is a good timing for the leadership of the APC to look beyond sentimental attachment to building that unified Nigeria, having the South East region included in the arms of government.
If we are politically excellent and intelligent, we must note that there are coming elections ahead, that would need our present actions and reactions towards giving to the south East the inclusiveness in government.
With our belief in one Nigeria, we must be practical in this regard. Giving to the south East, the office of the number three man of Nigeria, in the 9th Senate, gives better edge to redefining a pathway to the South East and bringing balance to the system.
Their contribution to the presidential elections and securing seats from the South East is enough commitments that deserves a reward that would convert minds from the South East to believing in our “One Nigeria”.
Let the APC not sleep away this time and forget our united *wah/zo/bia*…
Let that unity in the APC, that Nigerians believed in, giving them their mandate be represented in their characters and search for a better Nigeria.
Interests must be protected but, the APC must ensure no man’s interest is larger than that of the party and Nigerians. One factor that can bring elastic unity in Nigeria, waiting to be decided, is the future leadership of the 9th National Assembly.
The APC must get it right or face their actions in the nearest future.
The implications, not giving to the South East the office of the Senate President, having them ably represented in the Red Chambers on the platform of the APC, having the majority, is a clear fact of the said marginalisation of that region.
It further portrays the fact that the APC finds no trust in this zone, South East. Holding on to the popular saying that the “APC is a northern political platform”…
It’s time to prove that wrong.
What can you tell, of a region that lost the hold of the Vice President in the just concluded elections from the PDP, and also to lose the Senate Presidency from the APC in the face of this growing familiarity built by efforts of the sons and daughters from the South East for future elections and good governance?
How best can you explain the reasons the South East should not get hold of the seat of the number three man of our “One Nigeria ” where the North and West are confidently represented?
Does that mean they’re not qualified or should we say the marginalisation still trend in the APC?
If for nothing, the representation of Dr Orji Uzor Kalu from the South East is enough qualifications for the region to get inclusive in government.
Before many in the National Assembly, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu had been there and got experience.
He sponsored the Dual Citizenship Law that we enjoy today. So, he’s not new to the activities of the National Assembly.
Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, irrespective of being a two time governor of Abia State, remains a unifying factor known in the South East, Nigeria and the world at large, successful in his businesses.
Tell the South East, the reason why the APC cannot in unity and love for One Nigeria, put aside selfishness and align with those acts that would bind together our Nation Nigeria.
I made publications on this just concluded 2019 elections, I advised most of our leaders to sheathe their sword to remain relevant in politics. Many ignored and today, they lost it all, (APC /PDP alike).
However, the unity of the South East / South South is needed by the APC if they want to remain at the centre come 2023. What they do now must translate in their relevance come 2023.
The teaser is simple, if the South East is neglected in the leadership of the 9th Assembly, the messages would get clearer to the region that Nigeria is far away from unity because you can’t beat a child and force him to stop crying.
The past makes the future and this present is the past that would make the future, 2023 and build better unity.
