A member of the Benue State House of Assembly Peter Uche, has explained why he plans to seek re-election, citing the need to build on his legislative experience and deliver more development to his constituency.

Uche, who represents Guma I Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), made this known in an interview in Makurdi.

According to the lawmaker, experience plays a critical role in effective lawmaking and constituency representation, especially for first-time legislators.

He noted that understanding the workings of the assembly, including committee processes and decision-making, requires time and practical exposure.

Uche said his decision to contest again is driven by a desire to consolidate on the knowledge gained during his current tenure.

“With more experience, I will be better positioned to attract development projects and contribute meaningfully to legislation,” he said.

The lawmaker highlighted some of his achievements, including the provision of boreholes in communities such as Yogbo and Daudu, aimed at improving access to clean water.

He also pointed to his legislative efforts, including motions raised on security challenges affecting his constituency and his involvement in sponsoring bills.

Uche acknowledged that the legislative process comes with challenges but expressed confidence that continued service would enable him to navigate the system more effectively.

He added that a second term would allow him to contribute to a more productive and development-focused assembly.

The lawmaker expressed optimism that with new members and evolving dynamics, the next legislative session could deliver improved outcomes for the people.
