President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, summoned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, to explain the alleged flouting of his order for the IGP to relocate to Benue State and stop killings by suspected herdsmen.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, confirmed that Idris was at the Presidential Villa to see the president “on the matter”.
Idris was the first caller at the villa to explain to the president what he did to stem killings “not only in Benue but Nasarawa and Taraba states”.
Buhari received Idris in a private audience “and the IGP left about 30 minutes after without speaking to anyone”.
Freedom Online learned that after Idris informed the president the number of days he spent in the North-Central state and how he mandated AIGs to also man operational centres to stem the killings, Buhari demanded for a full report on police operations till date “after which he will make further decisions”.
Idris must submit the report within 48 hours.
