Less than two weeks after the abduction of students, staff and family members of Government Science College, Kagara, Niger State, bandits, again, struck on Friday morning, kidnapping hundreds of schoolgirls in Zamfara State.
Unconfirmed reports say about 300 students were abducted in the dawn raid.
The BBC Hausa Service is reporting that the school, Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe, Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State, was attacked by several gunmen.
A resident said that his daughters, Mansura and Sakina, were among those abducted.
“I’m on my way to Jangebe now to see the situation myself. I was told they invaded the school around 1am,” he said.
Information Commissioner, Suleiman Tunau-Anka, confirmed the abduction.
The spokesman of the state police command command SP Muhammad Shehu didn’t deny the abduction but pleaded for time to ascertain the true situation
“Give me some time, I can’t say anything now,” he said.
