Octogenarian comedian, Most Senior Apostle Moses Olaiya Adejumo, is dead.
The 82-year-old actor, popularly known as ‘Baba Sala’, died on Sunday night in Ilesa, Osun State.
Born on May 18, 1936, Baba Sala was regarded as the father of modern Nigerian comedy. He had to his credit award-winning movies, such as Orun Mooru, Aare Agbaye, Mosebolatan, Obee Gbona, Agba Man, Ana Gomina, Tokunbo, Diamond and Return Match, among others.
Baba Sala, who hailed from Ilesa, popularised stage play, theatre and television acting alongside the late Hubert Ogunde, Kola Ogunmola, Oyin Adejobi and Duro Ladipo.
But, the prolific filmmaker started his career as a highlife musician. In 1964, he formed Federal Rhythm Dandies and trained popular juju musician, King Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye (Sunny Ade).
Freedom Online learned that movie makers, producers and actors will meet with family members and officials of Osun State government on Monday to plan a befitting burial for him.
