A 300 level student of the University of Lagos, UNILAG, Chidinma Ojukwu, accused of killing Micheal Ataga, SuperTV boss, was on Tuesday formally arraigned before a Lagos High Court sitting in Tafawa Balewa Square for murder and forgery.
Moment she was docked before Justice Yetunde Akinsanya, she pleaded not guilty and was ordered to be remanded in correctional facility.
Apart from Chidinma Ojukwu, others that were brought to court were Adedapo Quadri and Egbuchu Chioma.
Her formal arraignment was a follow-up to the legal advice issued by the Lagos Directorate of Public Prosecution, DPP, which established a prima facie case against her and others.
She was brought to court by prison warders, while she covered herself putting on veil to conceal her face from cameras.
In count one, she was accused of conspiracy to murder Usifo Ataga contrary to Section 233 of Criminal Laws of Lagos 2015.
Count 2, she was accused of murder of Ataga, an offence said to have been committed by stabbing Ataga several times on the neck and chest with a knife.
In Counts 3,4,5,6 and 7, Chidinma and Adedapo were charged with conspiracy to commit forgery and making of documents without authority.
They were alledged to have procured false Access and UBA banks account statements of Usifo Ataga as well as procuring an international passport, driver’s licence in Chidinma’s name.
Count 8 Charge borders on stealing two i-Phones- (an iPhone 11- One Apple), MacBook laptop and ATM cards of Access Banks belonging to the late Usifo Ataga from which the sum of N380,000 was subsequently withdrawn.
Count 9: Chidinma’s sister Chioma Egbuchu was charged with being in possession of the stolen property, I Phone 7 belonging to late Usifo Ataga.
Commencement of trial was adjourned till November 9, 2021.
