An Associate Professor in the Department Human Kinetics and Health Education, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Joseph Awoyinfa, has listed five keys to answered prayers.
Ministering as Guest Minister at the fifth anniversary thanksgiving service of Omu – Ajibode branch of Divine Favour Prayer Assembly Ministries, over the weekend, Awoyinfa said topmost of the keys is the name of Jesus Christ.
Quoting the Lord Jesus Christ himself through the book of John 14:14, the cleric who is an ordained minister in Winners Chapel told the capacity crowd that “Jesus Christ himself told us that whatever we ask God in his name shall be done”.
He, therefore, urged Nigerians to cultivate the habit of routing their prayer requests to God through Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
The cleric also urged Nigerians to do away with sins adding that ” we need to learn and imbibe Joseph’s approach in this context. He ran away when he was tempted. How many of us can run away if faced by same circumstance and challenges?”
Awoyinfa said Nigeria would be a better place and country if all Nigerians imbibe the habit of running away from sins.
Awoyinfa, an expert in Sports Administration and Management, also identified harmonious relationship between husband and wife as another key.
He mentioned appreciation of God as another key, adding that during the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ, he lived and demonstrated clearly the role of appreciation on several occasions. He added that Lazarus was brought back to life by appreciation.
The Guest Minister further stressed the need for Nigerians to be specific in their prayers.
Quoting from the book of Psalm 1:1-3, the man of God similarly identified obedience to God’s commandments as the fifth key.
The Head Pastor of the church, A/Professor Tayo Popoola, prayed for national peace, security and progress for the nation.
The Prophet prayed that as Leah and Rachel became house builders and prayer reference across the world (Ruth 4:11), “God shall similarly raise nation-builders from our families in Jesus’name, amen”.
Dignitaries from all walks of life attended the thanksgiving service. They included the representative of the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the church, Chief (Dr.) Kenny Martins who was unavoidably absent, Barr Jonny Ucheaga, Rev Dr. Friday Owolabi Ordia, General Overseer of Anointed Gospel church, Pastor Joshua Arogundade, General Overseer, God Reigned lnternational ministry, Igbogbo, Lagos State, Pastor (Mrs) Abike Dosunmu and Pastor (Mrs) Funmilayo Ajayi, amongst others.
