A cleric, Apostle Gbenga Afolayan, has described longevity as a gift from God.
Ministering as a Guest Minister at the prophetic thanksgiving service of Divine Favour Prayer Assembly Ministries, Mowe, Ogun State on Sunday, at the conclusion of the 2015 Convention/Anniversary of the church, Apostle Afolayan stressed that longevity is a gift from God to be enjoyed by those whose conduct and lifestyle please the Lord.
Ministering on the theme, ‘ longevity from the book of Isa 38:5, Apostle Afolayan told the congregation that King Hezekiah was very bold in his prayer that made God to elongate his reign by extra 15 years because he had already developed a very deep intimacy with the Lord over the years and therefore, encouraged Nigerians to similarly have an intimacy with God, their maker .
While stressing that “it’s not the will or wish of God that people should die young”, Apostle Afolayan stressed that people should embrace righteous living and shun sinful lifestyle to enjoy longevity.
He noted that King Hezekiah would never had thought of praying to God if he had all along been living a sinful life.
He reminded the congregation that life on Earth is a battle in which to have longevity, one must avoid sinful life at all cost.
He further advised Nigerians to live a consecrated life in which they would have a personal relationship with God.
Said he: “If we have intimacy with God and sustain the intimacy, everything shall go well with us. We would hear His voice and God shall similarly communicate with us from time to time”.
The cleric observed that “when you have an intimate relationship with God, when death is knocking, God will alert you like King Hezekiah”.
Speaking at the occasion, the Spiritual Head of the church, A/ Prof. Tayo Popoola, praised God for His great acts in the emergence, growth and development of the ministry in the last fifteen years.
Popoola said it is gratifying to note and appreciate the supportive hand of the Lord in the church which now has three branches, a school of ministry and prayer Mountain in Ekiti State.
He prayed for peace in the country and specially prayed for those who have been very supportive of all the activities of the church from the beginning till date.
Popoola further prayed against outbreak of infectious diseases in the country adding that “this is a revelation at the pick of the convention”.
Dignitaries from all walks of life attended the thanksgiving service.
