ASELGON appoints Omo-Agege's sister as Patroness

Omo-Agege Ochuko

The Association of Ex-Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria (ASELGON) has appointed Pastor Regina Omo-Agege Ochuko as Patroness of the umbrella body of former council helmsmen in the country.

Ochuko is an elder sister to the Deputy President of the Senate and lawmaker representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

A statement by ASELGON Publicity Secretary, Hon. Ademola Ojo, said the appointment was based on unanimous decision of the National Executive Committee of the association.

Ojo, who noted that Ochuko remains the first female patron of the association, acknowledged her unparalleled achievements and sacrifices in the sustenance of the group.

He pointed out that the new patroness had been a leading voice for the stability of democracy and democratic structures in Nigeria in particular, on the African continent and the world at large.

According to him, Omo-Agege’s sister is an asset to the former chairmen in the country’s 774 local government areas.

“The association will benefit from her pool of wisdom equally as a respected woman with passion for the development of the grassroots people,” Ojo added.

The publicity secretary further congratulated the new patroness for being the first woman to be chosen out of the millions of women across the nation.

“To us, the appointment is a call to service and also ordained by Almighty God,” Ojo stated.

ASELGON, which is being led by Hon. Albert Asipa, was formed to bridge the gap between the government and the grassroots people and enhance the country’s socio-economic and political development.
