Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri, on Friday, arrived in Khartoum, Sudan ahead of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Africa Top 16 which will serve off February 14 and end on February 15.
Quadri said on telephone that he had to arrive earlier to avoid fatigue.

“I came a bit earlier so as to rest and avoid travelling cramps. I also want to get familiar with the weather here in Sudan.

“I always like to settle down because it helps me to perform better,’’ he said.

The 2014 ITTF star player said that he was battle-ready to challenge his opponents.

“I have been preparing rigorously and I am ready. I will be playing all my matches with seriousness and cautiously.

“I am not underestimating anyone because everyone is in for serious business. We are all here to win,’’ said Portugal- based Quadri.

Quadri is the defending champion at the tournament he won in the 2014 edition in Lagos when Nigeria hosted.

At the time of this report, Quadri is the only Nigerian player that has arrived in Sudan out of the four that will represent the country.

The others are Segun Toriola, Funke Oshonaike and Edem Offiong.
