Arsenal F.C. produced a dramatic comeback victory on Sunday, defeating Chelsea F.C. 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium after falling behind early in the Premier League encounter.
Chelsea stunned the home supporters when Morgan Rogers scored just 77 seconds after kick-off, giving the visitors a dream start.
The forward connected with a right-footed volley that gave Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya little chance.
Arsenal Respond After Early Chelsea Blow
Despite the setback, Arsenal gradually regained control of the match and began creating opportunities.
The hosts thought they had found an immediate equaliser when Riccardo Calafiori found the net, but the goal was ruled out by VAR after an offside decision involving Ezri Konsa.
Arsenal continued pushing and eventually levelled the score in the 25th minute.
Former Chelsea forward Kai Havertz produced a composed finish, cutting inside from the right before firing a low left-footed effort beyond Chelsea goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez.
Odegaard Completes Arsenal Comeback
Arsenal completed the turnaround shortly after the second half began.
New signing Christos Tzolis delivered the ball into a dangerous area, with Havertz cleverly allowing the pass to run through for captain Martin Odegaard.
The midfielder made no mistake, striking the ball high into the net to give Arsenal a 2-1 advantage.
Chelsea responded by increasing pressure in search of an equaliser.
However, Raya produced a crucial save to deny Chelsea winger Estevao Willian and preserve Arsenal’s lead.
Managers React After London Battle
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso admitted Arsenal remain one of the toughest teams to break down.
“They are hard to beat, they are hard to create chances against, but we had three or four chances to score more than one goal,” Alonso said.
He added that Chelsea’s development remains a work in progress.
“This is a process. It’s still early days for us. Not happy that we couldn’t get anything, but we need to keep calm and carry on,” he said.
Odegaard Praises Arsenal Mentality
Arsenal captain Odegaard said the team’s determination to keep fighting played a key role in securing victory.
“It was a big game, massive game, tough opponent and we got there in the end,” he said.
“Our mentality is to keep fighting. We have shown that many times. We never want to concede early, but the reaction was top.”
Arsenal Maintain Perfect League Start
The victory keeps the gunnersl level with Manchester City F.C. at the top of the Premier League table.
Both teams have collected maximum points from their opening three matches, while Chelsea remain on six points from the same number of games.
