President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday in Abuja pledged to provide the Armed Forces with the best hardware to ease their assignments.
He stated this after performing the 2016 wreath laying to mark the end of the 2016 Armed Forces Remembrance Day with a live streaming interaction with the Nigerian troops in war zone.
The president, who used the opportunity to address the troops from the theatre of war via the Mobile Communication Post Centre, commended the military authorities for the new innovative communication technology system, describing it as “quite impressive and morale booster’’.
“I just completed the parade. It has been a successful one and I’m very pleased with this innovation, which I did not know about it before. It is quite impressive and a morale booster. I congratulate you very much, indeed.

“I hope you have been able to cope despite of the weather over there, is dusty; is cool and from the streaming I have been receiving I’m very impressed and I thank you and congratulate you for doing your best within the circumstances. Thank you very much, indeed.

“Please, tell them that we are all concerned here about their performances as much as the rest of the nation that I hope they are in touch with their respective families back at home and I hope everybody is fine.

“I assure you the government is doing its best to make sure that they are provided with the best that is possible in terms of military hardware and efficiency in logistics as you are paid your allowances so that your families will be happy back in the Barracks.’’

The president, who also spoke with one of the Pilots in the battle field along Yola-Maiduguri route, received three happy cheers from the troops.
”Your Excellency, the troops will like to give you three happy cheers —–
”Thank you very much,”
Buhari, who earlier inspected the Remembrance Day parade and Guard of Honour mounted by the armed forces, signed the 2016 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Register, and released the pigeons to symbolise peace.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Madmud Mohammed also performed the wreath laying.

Others that performed the annual wreath laying included the Service Chiefs, Inspector-General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase as well as the Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Mr Micah Gaya.

The 2016 Armed Forces Remembrance Day started with the formal launch of the 2016 Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem by President Buhari on Nov. 16.

The event also witnessed a Juma’at Service at the National Mosque on Friday while an inter-denominational church service took place on Sunday at the National Christian Centre in Abuja.
